Originally, Koh Kood was a village under Koh Mak Subdistrict, Laem Ngop District, and later pormoted to Tambon Koh Kood in 1980. Koh Kood is 40 kilometers from Khlong Yai District. The people of Koh Kood had difficulty traveling to contact the government. In addition, Koh Kood is closer to Cambodia on the Kong Island side than the Thai’s mainland side. The government then issued a policy for security and convenience to the people, by raising the status of Koh Kood and the neighboring islands to be Koh Kood Sub-District; according to the announcement of the Ministry of Interior dated January 19, 1990, effective from April 1 of the same year, and later a royal decree dated August 24, 2007 raised the status to Koh Kood District, with Effective from 8 September the same year.
